Breakfast was decent, though the service felt disorganized and short on attention or warmth. The room was much smaller than I expected for the ₹11,000+ (about USD 130) price, especially compared with ITC Sonar, where we'd stayed a few days earlier for a little less and had a much bigger room with a pleasant city view. The bathroom was cramped and awkwardly laid out, with the shower inside a bathtub. We'd come to Kolkata for a day with my family, and I grew up in the city, so returning after nearly 30 years had me looking forward to the stay. We checked in on the afternoon of the 25th and got a window facing a nearby high-rise, where clothes and underwear were drying in full view. I asked reception to move us. I had to explain the concern to three people before they said they couldn't change rooms because it was already “in use.” It had been only 15-20 minutes since check-in, and we hadn't unpacked. They also said the hotel was “sold out.” That was an inefficient start and left a bad first impression. The stay didn't live up to what I expected or justify the price. The central location is the one thing that earns it two stars.

The hotel had a relaxed feel, and it was easy to unwind after a busy day in Kolkata. Check-in was quick, housekeeping was good, and the front desk was helpful. Breakfast had plenty of fresh choices, too. The staff stood out, polite and attentive, and quick to handle requests with a smile without hovering. My room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, with everything working as it should. It was also easy to get around from the convenient location, with shops, restaurants, and major city spots close by. I stayed at the Kenilworth Hotel last year and had a genuinely lovely time. I'd gladly return, and have already recommended it to friends heading to Kolkata.

The lawns for the main wedding event looked beautiful, nicely decorated without going overboard, and the rooms were comfortable. I was impressed by the staff, who were helpful and polite and made us feel valued. I was at Kenilworth Hotel, Kolkata for a wedding. The main celebration was on the lawns, other functions were in the basement banquet area, and guests had rooms booked for the three days. The breakfast buffet had lots to choose from. The food at the functions was delicious all three days, which was a pleasant surprise since banquet food at star hotels is often average in my experience.

The breakfast was a good spread, with omelette and Indian cuisine live stations, juices, and chai. The hotel's central location made it easy to shop and get around. My room was clean, comfortable, well maintained, and had the amenities I needed. The view, though, wasn't desirable. I faced a few buildings, and my colleagues had similar views. If you're tall, the bathtub isn't long enough. We were on a business trip with a tight schedule, and everyone at Kenilworth Hotel, Kolkata was pleasant and ready with a Namaste or other greeting. I really enjoyed the brief stay. I was rushing around all day and didn't think to take creative photos of the hotel.

We were in town for four nights to see T20 cricket world cup games at Eden Gardens, and the hotel was a great fit for us. The location worked really well. Our room was lovely and well equipped, with a spacious bathroom. Breakfast and dinner were both very good. Every staff member gave excellent service. Ashmita in the restaurant deserves a special mention, she was exceptional and a real credit to the hotel. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Kolkata.
