Park International Hotel

We were looking for somewhere near Kovalam beach late in the evening and couldn't find another place, so we stayed here. The spacious rooms were the main plus. There's only one person handling everything; he was usually around, but there's no room phone for service, so we had to get his personal number. There were hardly any room facilities. The towels were tiny, the blankets were torn and the pillows were worn out. Even two together gave no support. We didn't mind the lack of a beach view. I still think it was value for money because the other nearby hotels were quite expensive. I just wish the hotel would replace the blankets and pillows. The payments should be enough to buy new ones.

We arrived at 6:45 in the evening to a smiling staff member, since the property was mostly empty. But when he learned we'd booked through MMT, his smile turned to a frown. He called someone after we asked to see the room, saying, “Sir, MMT booking asking to see rooms.” It was late, the room didn't look like the photos, and our kids were exhausted after a long drive. We'd been on a South India road trip for 13 days and usually booked in the evening, depending on where we'd be arriving. We asked them to put on a fresh bedsheet while we were at the beach, before dinner, because the one there was old and filthy. When we returned around 10:30, nothing had changed. There was no intercom, so we went to ask in person at 10:45. I called MMT to request a room change, but they said the property was full. Then the staff member came and told us, “IF YOU HAVE TOO MANY ASK THEN CANCELLED THE BOOKING AND LEAVE THE PROPERTY.” At 11:00 we got our own bedsheets from the car and slept on them, the kids and us, in a room that seemed to be kept specifically for online booking deals. Even at a rate of 2000, the place was nothing like the photographs, just an old building with paint on the outside. I'm sharing pictures of the room, bedsheet and other things.

The service at Park International was really bad. Dinner service was poor too, and the caretaker didn't properly look after the hotel. The manager wasn't available. It's a big hotel, but it's in bad condition, and every room has bed bugs. I'd tell people not to stay here.

The location is good, the food is tasty, and the swimming pool and veranda are special highlights. Check in and enjoy your trip.
