The hosts can help sort out local plans, including Periyar boating tickets, elephant safari rides and traditional cultural shows. El - Paradiso is in the Mundackal area of Kumily, near the spice plantations and Periyar Tiger Reserve, but set back from busy traffic among trees and greenery. It’s a peaceful, comfortable base with clean, cozy, well-ventilated rooms, reliable Wi-Fi and hot water around the clock. Guests often mention how warm and helpful the owners are.

For an affordable stay in Thekkady, this family-run place is an easy recommendation. We were there for one night; our room was clean and breakfast was good. The owner was friendly and a real gentleman.

The location and room were nice, but the sheets didn’t seem clean and the towels were disgusting. I asked to have the room cleaned again, yet there were still long black hairs everywhere, and the sheets and towels looked dirty.
