Hotel Ambadi

The food was expensive and tasted poor for what it cost. I wouldn’t choose this hotel, since you can find a better one for the same price. The outside looks good, but the rooms inside and the service were awful in my experience. The washroom was in bad shape too. We had trouble with the hot water, the lock, and the toilet. We complained about the water but still couldn’t get any for a bath. After waiting a long time, I had to bathe using my trip partner’s water.

The place looks fancy from the street and sits among other good hotels and restaurants, but inside was a different story. I stopped in for a quick lunch and, after seeing how unhygienic the restaurant was, didn’t dare order more than noodles and juice. The tables were dirty and not being cleaned properly, probably because there weren’t enough staff. The washroom smelled worse than a bus stand toilet. The menu is printed on paper, and pork, beef and other meats are listed alongside the vegetarian items. Avoid this place.

The main course was decent, but the fruit salad dessert was disappointing. There was hardly any ice cream, and the fruit was all bad and sour. Service dragged at every step. One staff member was handling orders and deliveries, so we waited to place the first order and more orders, get the bill, and even receive our change. They need more staff.

The property’s location and appearance are decent, but the room condition made me leave and book another hotel on the spot. My driver stayed behind at Hotel Ambadi, Thekkady. The door locks were loose, the hinges shaky, and the toilet had no hand flush. There was no soap in the bathroom or charging point in the room. The TV didn’t work, and the wardrobe was full of spider webs, which suggested poor housekeeping. Room maintenance and cleanliness need serious improvement.
