The hosts at Misty green were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way for us. They knew the local businesses and tour operators well, and arranged our bamboo rafting as well as a last-minute rescue elephant experience on the day we left. They drove us to both bookings. The location is hard to beat, right across from the Periyar Tiger Reserve entrance gates, with shops, restaurants, chai spots, and a supermarket just a short walk away. Our room was clean, and the shared porch had plenty of seating and lighting. The windows had intact screens, something we hadn’t had at earlier places, so we didn’t need the AC. Downstairs, the hostess’s lovely garden and small collection of birds greeted us whenever we came and went. I’d highly recommend this homestay for a trip to Periyar Tiger Preserve.

Breakfast was homemade, fresh, and probably the best I had in Kerala. Felix and his wife gave us such a warm welcome and made sure we were cared for throughout the stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and nicely decorated, and the location was superb, a short walk from the main down and the National Park. A wonderful homestay run by a lovely couple. I’ll definitely stay again.

Misty mornings, a cozy feel, and a peaceful setting surrounded by nature made this a lovely place to unwind. The food was fresh and tasty, and the warm hospitality and homely atmosphere really made it feel like a second home. A calm, refreshing getaway.

We found it convenient but still quiet, with greenery all around, and got a great deal by booking well ahead. The garden is beautifully kept and adds a peaceful feel to the property. We spent two nights at Misty Green Homestay, Thekkady in December 2025. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well maintained, so we felt comfortable and relaxed. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh idly and vada, excellent accompaniments, and especially good premium-quality tea. Great value, comfort, and hospitality for a pleasant, peaceful stay in Thekkady.

The shuttle buses to the tiger reserve leave right next door, so getting around was easy. My husband and I stayed here while visiting Kumily and had a great time. The lovely couple who run the homestay were considerate and flexible throughout, and served delicious, healthy breakfasts each morning. I’d highly recommend it to anyone coming to Kumily.
