Hotel Tso Lhamo

A good option for one night on the way to Gurudongmar lake. Lachen town is hardly 1km away, with hotels on both sides. Our room was very good, had good blankets and a nice view, and hot water was available. It had two beds, one for two people and another single bed. There’s a restaurant, but we didn’t use it because it was costly.

The food was good: a veg sandwich for breakfast and rice, dal, and sabji for dinner. The rooms were neat, with clean bedspreads and wooden floors. But there was no hot water in the morning.

The food was quite good in taste and quality, though service moved very slowly because they were understaffed. The restaurant has limited seating. This is one of the better properties in Lachen, with its own restaurant and bar, unlike other places in the region. You can get amazing views from the top floor, though access there is limited. For this location, it’s the best you can find.

The location and rooms are nice, but better cleanliness, service, and staff training would make the guest experience much better. We booked two rooms, and one geyser didn’t work, so they told us to share with the other room. The bathrooms weren’t properly cleaned at first, with dirt and other stuff on the floor and basin. Staff cleaned them only after we asked and showed them a couple of times. There was hair on the bedsheet too, and we had to request a replacement. WiFi was listed when booking but didn’t work. Someone had made maggie in the electric kettle and burnt its bottom; when we asked for it to be cleaned, staff said it wasn’t that dirty and was fine. They initially left one towel per room, and said management had told them to give extras only if guests asked. We had to ask a couple of times before getting another towel.
