Mount Bayul Shangri-La Resort

The room was clean and in good condition, and that bed warmer was a real help. The balcony was a feature they emphasized, and I've uploaded a photo of it. Getting around in the rain was awkward, though: there was no floor rug, so wet feet left the reception area a mess, especially since the restaurant is in a separate building from the rooms. There was nobody to meet us apart from the receptionist, and we had to carry our own luggage. The rooms and facilities were good, but service was weak. Coffee took two calls and 45 minutes each time, whitner wasn't available, and even after asking, we couldn't get a laundry bag. The receptionist was the one bright spot, and also put on a bonfire and sings well. Food was expensive, perhaps because of the remote location, and the menu was basic for breakfast and dinner, things like upma and vermicelli. It was vegetarian except for eggs, possibly because supplies from Gangtok had been interrupted.

The electric mattress was a nice extra for warmth alongside the heater, and the rooms were clean with a great view. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay at Mount bayul lachung. The food was okay, but the onion pakoras they made for us were especially good in that weather.

Mr. Mukesh deserves special thanks for helping us during a landslide on the way to Lachung. He personally arranged for us to get to the resort safely from the other side, and his care meant a lot. The manager also made bonfire night memorable by singing for everyone so beautifully. The staff were kind and humble, always doing their best to make us feel at home. It felt more like staying with friends than at a hotel. We spent two nights at Mount Bayul Shangrila Resort, surrounded by the spectacular mountains of Lachung. Waking to misty valleys and snow-covered peaks was magical. Our room was spacious, clean, thoughtfully designed, and warm, which was just right for a peaceful hill stay. With those views, comfortable rooms, and such caring hospitality, I'd gladly recommend the resort. Its people and setting will stay with me.

Snowy mountains all around and a river flowing nearby made the setting really scenic. We stayed at Mount Bayul for two nights with family, and the cafe, rooms, and staff all felt warm and welcoming. There was a heater as well as heating in the beds, so resting comfortably was easy. The restaurant has an area for a bonfire, and the staff were very nice. They also have emergency backup power. A very pleasant stay, thank you.
