The manager and staff were friendly, smiling, and helpful when arranging things. That was the one bright spot. I picked Purnima Resort, also called Purnima Residency, in Lakshmanpur, Neil Island, because I wanted to pop back to my room after relaxing by the sea, but that didn’t work out. It’s near Laxmanpur Beach, which is good for sunsets, but Bharatpur Beach is about 2 km away. That’s the popular beach for white sand, clear water for swimming or snorkeling, and places to sit and chill. Getting there means renting a scooter or taking an auto each time, adding hassle and cost, with no quick return to the room for a break. At around ₹3500 a night, I expected better basics. There was no hot water, just uncomfortable cold showers, especially after being out all day. Breakfast was repetitive and very basic, poha one day and puri sabzi the next, with no variety. It didn’t feel like the relaxing beach holiday I expected. If easy access to the main relaxing beach matters to you, look elsewhere. 2 out of 5 stars.

I booked Purnima Resort on Neil Island because a friend had stayed there the year before and recommended it. I spent two days there and enjoyed my stay. I couldn’t get a scooter, but the staff were helpful and arranged a car for me.

The rooms are nice, and Himanshu was very cooperative. Service was good too. Breakfast and dinner were good, home-made, and felt safe to eat.

This felt like a low-budget lodge, not a resort. The rooms were tiny, there was nowhere to leave luggage, and there was no garden or sitting area. There wasn’t any open space either. The beds, walls, and bathroom all had stains, and the door had lots of holes. It was just a narrow passage with 10 rooms in a row. That’s all.

I’m giving it 3 stars for the service and breakfast. The washroom was an issue, and the hot water was kept in a common area, outside the room.
