The room’s boutique style was lovely, and it was comfortable too. Tsas serves fusion dishes and cocktails made with local ingredients, which I really enjoyed. The welcome was warm from the start, check-in went quickly, and the staff were attentive and professional throughout. I’d recommend Dolkhar if you’re visiting Ladakh.

The rooms feel like cozy little studio apartments, and the lighting is just right. The views are great, too. One thing to watch: the staircases need extra care when you’re going down in the slippers or socks provided. There’s also a spa, with sauna and steam room use included, but you need to book those ahead.

We came back to Dolkhar for our final night after visiting other places in Ladakh, and were looking forward to breakfast and dinner there again. The restaurant was a highlight: every dish we ordered tasted good, especially the pizza, crisp hash browns, soups, mushroom crepe and salads. It’s a small boutique property with seven duplex villas, each with an oxygen concentrator and plenty of thoughtful equipment. We had tea, coffee and snacks in the villa, and the upstairs balcony had a lovely view. On arrival, we were offered sea buckthorn juice or kahwa, along with local white patta, and they checked our oxygen levels. The bellboy carried our luggage and showed us the lights, heater and antique-style lock. Apple and apricot trees and sunflowers make the grounds feel like a garden. Staff were always helpful, including bringing fresh fruit when we asked. They’re well trained and welcoming. I’m glad our travel agent Tashi picked this place, and would recommend giving it a try if you want a nature-filled stay with a boutique hotel feel.

After long days out in the high-altitude scenery, coming back to Dolkhar was a real reset. The place feels intimate and restful, with caring staff who seemed to anticipate what we needed without making a fuss. Little things like herbal tea, sustainable amenities and efficient service added to that feeling. The rooms were clean, cozy and thoughtfully put together, with morning mountain light coming in. Stone and wood, handmade details and sunny courtyards give it a strong sense of place. The kitchen uses seasonal local ingredients, and the food was colorful, balanced and memorable. I’d happily recommend it.
