Hills View Hotel

The approach was covered in dusty dug-up soil because of roadworks when we visited, although the hotel is near a local market. This is an economy-grade place and I wouldn’t suggest it if you want comfort. The rooms are tiny, toilets just okay, and hot water only ran for 1-2 hours in the morning. Room service from the restaurant was never on time, the food was very average, and they seemed short-staffed.

The restaurant has a great mountain outlook, with a panoramic view over the monastery and city. It’s near a rail restaurant too, so you can choose. We found the staff, including the receptionist, service boy, and cook, really nice to talk to, helpful, and they even helped carry our bags to the parking area. The owner was friendly and offered good suggestions about Leh and Ladakh. It’s a nice budget hotel with a good view and parking, near the airport and monastery, and bikes are easy to get. Breakfast was good and service prompt. We booked three days and liked the location.

There’s a multi-cuisine restaurant here, and the main market is an easy walk away. The location is lovely and open, with plenty of parking, and it’s easy to reach.

The owner left us stuck without cash because he wouldn’t take anything except cash. There were no working ATMs in the area, and he wouldn’t accept an account transfer either. The staff behaviour was pathetic. This was one of my worst experiences. Please don’t visit this place, they just want to make black money. I’m waiting eagerly for the owner to respond.
