Hotel Blue Stone

The location is perfect for getting around and finding food, and the wifi works well in the cafe restaurant. But this hotel has a lot to improve. Our room was dusty and dirty, the window wouldn’t close properly, the bedsheet had stains and hairs, and I had to use wipes on the tables. The TV didn’t work. There’s no air conditioning, so it got a bit hot and stuffy at noon. Staff were trying very hard to serve us better. The road side room was extremely noisy. Drivers kept honking at the corner or narrow road, and I couldn’t sleep at all. In a room away from the road, the wifi wouldn’t connect. There’s no lift, so disabled guests should take note. We ordered eggs for breakfast every morning. Don’t get the fullboard package: dinner was served very late. That may be their culture, but we aren’t used to it, and you can find better food outside.

The staff impressed me most. They were friendly, patient, and helpful, and I could go to them with concerns at any time of day or night. The location is just right for walking around the city centre, close to the market and handy for shopping. The room was pleasant, cozy, and clean, and the food was decent with quick service. It’s a perfect budget stay with no complaints from me. I’d choose it anytime and definitely recommend it.

The bathroom was shockingly unclean, and when we raised it with the staff, nobody took responsibility or arranged a proper cleaning. They just blamed one another and apologized. We only noticed after we’d checked in and fallen asleep because of altitude sickness, since we hadn’t looked under the closed toilet seat earlier. The room really was in the state shown in the picture, and I’m sorry if you had to see it while searching. The hotel is close to Leh market, but that isn’t enough reason to book it. There are much better places on the same street for similar prices. Parking is cramped too, and taxis coming in and out can cause a lot of traffic. A really bad experience, especially because the staff didn’t seem to care.

We spent six days here and had a nice stay. The hotel is close enough to Leh’s main market for evening outings and shopping, with plenty of restaurants nearby, but it’s far enough from the busy street that the noise wasn’t a problem. Safety seemed good, and the dining area and kitchen were clean and well kept. The food was good, and staff were always willing to help. Our room was spacious, though brighter paint would improve the feel. The washroom buckets and mugs could use replacing. You can use the hotel Wi-Fi in your room, and the receptionist can help arrange a taxi or bike. A taxi from the airport costs 550 rupees. If you’re travelling to Leh from outside the area, remember that prepaid connections don’t work there, so you’ll need postpaid. Thanks and best wishes.
