Hotel Spic N Span

Of all the hotels I’ve stayed in Ladakh, this one’s my favorite. The management is fantastic, and the place is truly beautiful. You won’t be disappointed.

We were there in October 2015 for our first trip to Leh, and staying here was one of the best things my son and I could have asked for. I’d recommend the hotel, and it’s a 10-15 minute drive from Leh airport. The rooms were neat and clean. Although most of our group were foreigners and there were only a few of us Indians, we felt the hotel and staff treated us well. A couple of managers seemed a little grumpy, but the boys who attended to us, along with the guides and drivers, were all wonderful at their jobs. The restaurant was decent, though I wish the buffet had included hot soup for that kind of weather. The heating was provided at certain times of day and was good enough, but I wonder how it would hold up in harsh winter. There’s also a white heat board plate in the washroom for a little warmth. Switch it on, and don’t touch it or splash water on it. My other gripe was the see-through glass wall around the bath and toilet. It has a curtain on the inside, but that doesn’t cover all of the glass, so I’m not sure what the idea was. I felt sick on the first day and tried calling reception at 4:00 AM, but nobody answered. Those are a few complaints, but for a first visit to Leh, you can’t go wrong staying here.

The location was convenient, close to the main market while still peaceful. Staff went out of their way to make sure everything was taken care of, and the restaurant had tasty food with a good variety. At Hotel Spic n Span in Leh, my room was clean, cozy, and well equipped, so I had a very comfortable stay. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Leh.

The service was very poor, and the reception staff were rude. The rooms and bathroom weren’t maintained as they appeared in the pictures, and the TVs didn’t work either. I’d only choose this hotel if you’re looking for a budget standard. Overall, I don’t recommend it.
