Mandala - Leh Ladakh Hotel

The restaurant is spacious and offers food options, though the serving staff and food quality are debatable. The hotel looks decent outside, but inside it’s just as messed up. Rooms are spacious, but the furniture and fixtures are poorly maintained and need a serious makeover. In summer the wooden interiors make the rooms hot, and there’s no AC, only wall-mounted rotating fans, which made us uncomfortable. There’s parking out front, but it’s usually taken up by rider bikes and is cramped for cars. The location is within walking distance of the market, though the area is very congested.

The kitchen staff were friendly and customized meals for us, asking what we wanted and preparing it. Kudos to them. We stayed 5 nights after booking through glabol, which has a tie-up with the property. The stay was satisfactory overall, but the rooms need better upkeep. Our first triple-sharing room was too small for three, and hot water was often unavailable. When we asked for a bigger room for our last night after returning from a trip, the manager kindly arranged one, but it was full of insects and poorly maintained. Water pressure in the rooms wasn’t enough either.

The owner and staff are nice, and the restaurant area and food are good. It’s in a unique spot, with easy access to Leh Main market and places around Leh.

The stay was good overall, but the washroom wasn’t clean and the Wi-Fi was too weak. Hot water also didn’t work properly. Fixing those things would make the experience much better.
