The Leh-Chen Hotel

The rooms are spacious and the hotel is in the city centre. The buffet food was just okay, neither especially good nor bad. My main issue was that the Wi-Fi didn’t work properly.

Room 311, where we spent our last night, was well furnished and the complete opposite of the first room. We were assigned Room 211 for the first two nights as part of our Veena World tour package, and it was dirty and dusty, with no mirror. I’d strongly suggest avoiding that room. The service staff were responsive and good overall, but the food was quite bad and partly cooked on several days. I wouldn’t give the hotel more than two stars. Management needs to improve room maintenance and food quality.

The unobstructed view of the Khardung La was a highlight, and both the location and staff service were great. The rooms were decent too. Hot water was available twice a day, for about two hours each time. I can’t understand the bathroom layout, though: it faces the common corridor, with no exhaust fan and just a small vent opening onto that corridor. A real design fail.

The view from our room was spectacular and made the stay especially memorable. At the 'Leh-Chen' hotel in Leh, the rooms were neat and clean overall, although the bathroom could have been a little better. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was decent. The food was good considering the limited resources in Leh. I’d recommend the hotel to people visiting Leh. I’d rate the experience 3.5 stars.
