Akashadeepa Homestay

We stayed one night and everything was fine until we were leaving the next day. I went to collect our luggage from outside and asked to use the room for just five minutes to change, since I had an all-night journey ahead. The older woman in the house told me to change outside on the veranda, where people walking along the road could clearly see. If she didn’t want to let me back into the room, she could have said so or asked for an extra payment. It was disgusting to ask a woman to change in the open like that. My review is about the people, not the room, and I never expected that attitude in such a lovely place.

The rooms were okay for size and cleanliness, and the bathrooms were clean with hot water. The owner was hospitable and made us feel welcome. We booked two rooms, though the price felt high, especially for budget travelers. There’s no food provided, so we had to find meals ourselves. One restaurant about 500 meters away was convenient. The homestay is near the Madikeri toll gate bus stand and within walking distance of Raja's Seat and Nehru Mantap. Its hours run from 1 pm to 10 pm the following day, which may feel restrictive. Transport was difficult to arrange, and we walked to Raja's Seat to find an auto.

The location was the only good part. The price was too high, the heater in my room didn’t work, and a bathroom tap was leaking. I also used a hidden camera detector app, which showed cautions in three places: the TV, heater, and safe locker. I had checked that the app worked at other hotels and at home, where it didn’t give alarms for those objects.

Akashdeep Homestay was a reasonably priced, comfortable place to stay, with warm and helpful hosts who shared suggestions for local attractions and activities. The rooms were clean and maintained well, the bedding was comfortable, and the place had a cozy, homely feel. It’s set among greenery in a quiet, scenic area away from the city bustle. Basic facilities included hot water, Wi-Fi, and parking, though what’s available may depend on the room or package. They don’t serve food or breakfast, so guests need to make other meal plans, such as nearby restaurants or cafes. It may help to ask the homestay about local options. My experience was positive, though room service or recreation facilities could improve the stay. A decent choice for a peaceful visit to Coorg.
