Coorg Ashok Palace

Ranjit was especially welcoming, friendly, and helpful, always going the extra mile to make sure things were right. The whole place had a peaceful, refreshing feel, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. I had an amazing stay at Coorg Ashok Palace Hostel, and would recommend it for a Coorg trip. Great people and a stay worth remembering.

It felt warm and homely, and I’d book here again next time I visit coorge. The staff were really good, and my bf even became friends with one of them as bikers, no argument on that 😂. Cleanliness was top notch throughout the corridors, with clean sheets and blankets on every bed. That’s my kind of happiness.

We visited Madikeri just before Christmas in 2025 and stayed at Hotel Coorg Ashok Palace. The quiet location is not too far from the main road, and good vegetarian restaurants, Udupi and Paakshala, are within a 15 min walk. There’s basement parking for 4 to 5 cars and space for 3 to 4 more at the entrance. Our executive room was compact but adequate for 2 persons. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the staff were supportive. Breakfast is complimentary, but there’s no restaurant or dining room. If you order the previous evening, they get it from nearby hotels and serve it in your room the next morning, which is difficult for eating. During the day you need to go to a nearby restaurant or order through Swiggy / Zomato. The TV isn’t a proper TV, it’s a smart TV where only YouTube works. It would help to have a small dining hall for breakfast, plus instant coffee, milk powder, sugar sachets, and coffee cups in the rooms. Hot water management needs improvement, and they should provide a good dish TV service like Tata Play. I rated it 4/5 because of the clean room and bathroom and excellent support staff.

The male receptionist behaved terribly after my sister reported that the toilet commode was overflowing. We did complain in a loud, irritated voice, but nobody verbally abused the worker. He acted as if we were staying for free, told us to vacate the room, and threatened to hand us over to the police. When we asked for handwash and called him Brother, he replied that it wasn’t a 5* hotel. I don’t know why people praise this lodge. Please don’t go here.
