Parking is good, which matters when choosing somewhere in Madikeri, and the property is right in the heart of town. The rooms are basic but roomy enough for two, and reasonably well kept. Service was OK, nothing special. Breakfast at the attached restaurant is the usual South Indian fare. Good value for a one- or two-night stay.

We had a great family stay at La Gowri Coorg and really enjoyed it. The reception and admin team deserve credit for their support and cooperation, and the hospitality was lovely. Breakfast was good, though there’s room to improve it.

It made my experience especially meaningful to learn that people from West Bengal work here. Their work style is very commendable. From housekeeping and reception to the kitchen, the staff were warm, friendly, and helpful.

Room 105 was clean and OK, but water dripping onto the tin shed behind it made so much noise that sleeping through the night was difficult. Breakfast was good. The location was OK, though the room had no balcony or other view, just felt shut in. There was no in-house restaurant or housekeeping service, and the two boys seemed to be handling everything at the hotel. The power went out for a few hours with no backup. The toilet had no soap, dental kits, or combs. They even refused to provide a stool for bathing, which was embarrassing.

The food was the highlight for me. Each dish had its own flavors, and the chef really showed their skill. I can’t praise the food enough. The accommodation and facilities, though, weren’t up to the mark.
