Hotel The Nook

We checked in at 3pm, but the rooms weren't ready, so we waited 45 minutes. The rooms were unclean, the bathroom stank, and there were no towels. We had to ask several times before they brought toiletries. We told them at check-in that we needed an extra mattress, but it didn't arrive until 11pm. I wouldn't book this hotel, even on a tight budget.

We booked two rooms, and both had the same problems, so it clearly wasn't a one-off. The AC was useless in both. Even set to 18°C, the temperature stayed around 28°C and made the rooms very uncomfortable. Service was poor, the restrooms were in bad shape, and the flush didn't work properly. At ₹3000 per room, it was a complete waste of money. This place felt unprofessional and poorly maintained, and I strongly don't recommend it. If you're considering a stay, check the room, AC, and facilities first or you may regret it.

The food was good, but service was still lacking. We called for help multiple times and nobody came. The bedding and service were awful, and don't expect the AC to work, it was a fan running somewhere instead. Parking might be near the roundabout or in the underground space if you're lucky. The security people were helpful, though. There was no zero available to rate the service, or I would have used it.

After a two-day journey from Mumbai, we reached Moskva Hotel, Madurai with a confirmed booking for two nights / 3 days, made almost two months ahead through the Agoda app and paid in full. We were shocked when the hotel said it had sent Agoda a cancellation message a month earlier. The booking was still confirmed in the app, and nobody had told us about the cancellation. The staff refused to acknowledge our booking, wouldn't let us leave even our luggage inside, and told us to call Agoda and sort it out after we had arrived. Agoda support was professional and helpful. They contacted the hotel and even increased the booking amount to resolve the issue. Only then did the hotel let us leave our luggage in the lobby. The hotel gave contradictory explanations: “Our contract with Agoda has been removed,” even though it was still listed there; “No rooms are available”; and that they couldn't provide rooms earlier because the hotel was full. They also wanted to charge extra even for 1/2 hour of extra stay. It felt like a deliberate way to get more money from guests who'd travelled a long distance and had no choice. The experience was unethical, stressful, and completely unacceptable, especially for a hotel that still takes online bookings. Travellers should be extremely cautious about booking this property.
