The room and washroom were clean and well kept, and the receptionist was friendly. He helped us with bus routes and other information we wanted. We also got a good complimentary breakfast, which was a nice surprise. Our spacious non-AC double room with attached bathroom cost ₹1600 per night. The building seemed to be an older one with a modern interior, and there are both AC and non-AC rooms. We were close to the railway station and temple: around a five-minute walk to adurai main railway station and about ten minutes to the West tower of Meenakshi temple. We had a room facing town hall road, one of the busiest streets, and noise continued until midnight. It seemed quiet enough to sleep only for about four hours until 4am. Even so, it was a pleasant stay, and I'd recommend the hotel in Madurai.

The location is the best thing here. It's near the West entrance of Meenakshi temple and Madurai junction, has enough parking, and is surrounded by good places to eat. We stayed as a family in a room with four beds, but there wasn't much else to praise. It isn't worth the money, and is just okay for one night if you want to have a dharshan, freshen up and leave. The restroom door had been tampered with and had no lock. The toilet hand shower had no water, the window AC couldn't cool the large room, and the cots didn't even have beds. The plastic water jug gave no clue when it had last been cleaned.
The rooms have really gone downhill since I used to stay here before COVID. The location is still good, but during my AC room stay there was no hot water, the flush was broken, and the sheet had blood marks from mosquitoes I'd killed overnight. I wonder if I'll come back. I like hotels that stick to their rates, but they should be just as firm about service quality. Management should inspect each room, not just the bank account book. The business ethics aren't good, and I may choose a newer hotel next time.
The women serving complimentary breakfast were arrogant and treated guests like dogs. They call it a buffet, but you still have to ask the lady to serve, and she questions you in a way that puts you off asking again. I feel management may be using this approach to limit how much breakfast guests eat. Why offer it if that's the tactic? Do they think we can't afford a Rs.50/70 breakfast when we're paying 2500/3000 a day for the room? If the hotel really wants to provide breakfast, it should have hospitable people serving it. Otherwise, don't include it. We're happy to pay the room rent and buy breakfast ourselves. I'd be glad if the feedback is considered and if you let me know what measures are taken, so I can plan future stays at the hotel.
From what I understand, lower-tier non-AC double rooms are often dusty, poorly ventilated and prone to mosquitoes. People report shabby toilet bowls and bedsheets that haven't been changed. Maintenance complaints include leaking bathroom taps, TVs that don't work, and noisy AC units that give more noise than cold air. Service reports include uncooperative front desk staff or trouble getting prepaid bookings acknowledged. Guests say they have to argue for basic cleaning or fresh towels, and staff can respond with a “not my problem” attitude to facility problems such as no hot water.
