Mount Castle Resort

We booked the suites after getting a good discount through a hotel booking site. At the original price, I don’t think they’d be worth it. We were two couples in rooms 615 and 616, with 616 being the better one because it had a balcony. Both rooms were spacious and clean, service was good, and the food was good, though the price-to-quantity ratio could be better. The view from 616’s balcony was awesome. The bathrooms were the problem. The ceiling in 615 was actually leaking, and bathwater wouldn’t drain, so I had to call housekeeping every time to clean it. It didn’t feel like a suite at all. There were too many flies in the restaurant (flies), and it definitely needs renovation. We chose to eat in our rooms. The resort is fine overall, but some areas need improvement.

The staff were rude and didn’t seem to care, and the food was awful. We could barely chew the chicken. The complimentary breakfast wasn’t good either: the medu wada was too oily and empty inside, and nothing else was good except the eggs. Flies were all over the buffet, and the pool water looked dirty. The rooms had serious problems. The ACs didn’t work, there were no remotes for temperature control, and in one room water leaked from the AC onto the bed. Bathroom floors were slippery enough that I nearly fell. Some rooms had no hot water, one bathroom had clogged water, and in another room bathroom water got into the room. This was a very, very bad experience. Do not book here.

The place seems less popular with visitors, though it’s cheap and sits just before the main market. The rooms are good, and the food is awesome with lots of options. The resort could be maintained better. The pool wasn’t clean and still looked muddy even after it was cleaned, and it’s a maximum of 6 ft.

We liked the quick service, and the wooden-themed restaurant stood out for me. The pool, carrom and foosball were great too. The pool table was a bit worn compared with one at a pool club, though still perfectly usable. We'd been heading to Kolhapur with friends yesterday when we decided to stop for a relaxing night at a resort in Panchgani. Mount Castle was the first place we came across in the ghats, so we asked about it and looked at the rooms. It’s a large property with about seven bungalows, each with four rooms and private bathrooms. We’d hoped for a valley-view room, but ours was in bungalow 7. That turned out to be a plus for me, since there’s a masjid just behind it within the resort grounds, which was a surprise. We had a really nice stay. I’d recommend it to families, as long as they don’t expect too much. I’d come back with my family.
