Dishant Cottage by OYO Rooms

The staff, including the sir, were so friendly and helpful, and they made the stay memorable. I was comfortable in the room, and the food was delicious. I had a wonderful time in Manali.

We came as two families, and although the atmosphere was lovely and the rooms were spacious enough for average-sized families, the rest of the stay was disappointing. Our check-in was set for 10 am, but the process dragged on: we got one room at 10:30 am, then another and an interconnecting room only in the evening. One of the four rooms we'd booked had been given to another party without our consent. Getting basic things was a struggle. The staff seemed unsure how to deal with guests or understand requests for a flask or electric kettle. There were no bathroom towels at first. After several requests, we were given used ones, and only got a fresh towel on the morning we left. The property also has no parking space. The proprietor came across like a stern, unfriendly hostel warden. With all these problems, we can't recommend the resort.

The rooms looked nothing like the online photos. They were old and falling apart, and the electrical setup seemed like a serious fire hazard, with far too many adapters packed into each outlet. The food was edible, at best. They charged 500 rupees per night for a heater, then insisted I switch it off every two hours and wait an hour before turning it back on. I followed those instructions, but the poor wiring eventually failed. When I wouldn't pay for their incompetence, they took the heater away and left me and my kids freezing. My friend's family went through the same thing. Avoid this place.

Dishant Cottage had no parking and no lift, both of which added to the inconvenience. The staff were rude and unprofessional, so the stay felt uncomfortable. I was also surprised they didn't have basic drinks like Coke or Thums Up, and they weren't taking orders for starters. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
