Shuru Cottage & Villa

We got in close to midnight, and waking up to the valley view and sunshine was wonderful. The hotel sits on a mountain slope among apple orchards, with snowcapped peaks in view as far as you can see. The location couldn’t be better. Service was lovely: dinner and breakfast came hot, tea arrived when we’d requested it, and they brought us coffee while we enjoyed the view before leaving. Everything was clean, including the rooms. Loved our stay.

Mohan, our caretaker, cooked really tasty food for us and was a great chef. Uncle and aunty looked after us so kindly, like parents, and Ramesh uncle was helpful too, planning our daily itinerary and guiding us around Manali and the other places where we stayed. We had privacy, lots of fun, and a wonderful trip. People in Manali are so helpful and kind 🙂

It’s a nice spot if you’re after peace, the climate, and the view. I’d recommend it if you have your own car, since it’s far from Mall Road and you’ll need transport. One downside, you aren’t allowed to wash your clothes.

The cozy room had a great view, and breakfast was tasty, usually aloo or gobhi parantha. The cottage is about 5 km from Mall Road. The back view is superb, though several cottages stand in a row at the front. There was a king-size bed, TV, cupboard, and mirror, but no electric kettle. For hot water you had to call the caretaker each time, and there were no phones in the rooms, so get the caretaker’s number beforehand. The caretaker was very rude. There was no power backup, and if the geyser wasn’t working, they wouldn’t provide hot bath water. When power or water supply failed, they just said there was nothing they could do, rudely. We’d paid in full for two rooms for six adults, but they refused bedding for a third person unless we paid extra. The bonfire also cost extra, 500 bugs.
