Daiwik Hotels Rameswaram

We went to Daiwik Hotel for the dinner buffet, and the dishes were delicious with plenty of variety. The team also surprised us with a birthday cake, which made the evening memorable. Amith K.Sir(Asst F&B Manger), Nitya, and the rest of the staff were friendly and attentive. A delightful experience!

We spent two nights here. The rooms were spacious and well kept, and the staff were helpful. The 4 rating is mostly because management at the hotel and restaurant seemed lacking. We had to remind them a couple of times about missing hand towels, and restaurant items took a long time to be replenished, leaving us waiting. The massage is expensive, and the staff didn’t seem experienced enough, so I wouldn’t recommend trying it.

Lunch was fantastic, both the food and the service, and the restaurant has a luxurious feel. I’d recommend visiting for lunch. When I came back the next day, though, I was told the buffet only starts at 1 pm, which was disappointing. It would help to begin lunch at 11, since many visitors need to catch the 01:30 train.

Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the hotel was well maintained. It’s about 10 minutes by auto from the temple gate, and the clean, bright white premises reflect a real focus on hygiene. The staff, including Mr Prasannajith at the front desk (if I got the name right), Mr Gokul..(Security at the door), Ms Manimegalai, Ms Nithya, Mr Karuppaswamy (Food & Beverage/Restuarant), and the Bengali Sister in the restaurant service section whose name I forgot, were professional and attentive despite the crowds and all the different demands on them. My apologies for forgetting her name, and thanks to all of them. I also want to thank the chefs, whose names I didn’t catch. The food was amazing, especially the north Indian fare, which suits the many guests coming from the north. There was also a decent spread for foreigners. I saw a few French guests ransacking the buffet, enjoying Indie, Merci! Even amid that hectic buffet rush, I tried some ala-carte: phulka and parathas with chettinad veg gravy. Nothing fancy, but awesome, hot, clean, satisfying food after parikrama at the temple. The price seems justified for the service and standards, especially when trained staff are hard to find. During busy hours, I saw the kitchen staff and chefs helping serve food and manage guests in the restaurant. One area to review is the driver facilities. Rameswaram is a family communion oriented ritual place, and families often hire drivers to accompany them. Their facilities can affect guests too. Even if there’s a nominal charge, a decent place for drivers to refresh and recharge would help. Our driver didn’t rate the current facility highly. I hope the hotel keeps up the cleanliness, service, and guest safety.
