For the price, the rooms’ construction and cleanliness were more than sufficient, and everything else was also adequate, especially since Mangalore doesn’t seem to have a better hostel or backpackers lodge. But we had a string of smaller problems: key lockers that didn’t work, dead power outlets and lights, and puddles in both rooms when we got back from a day out. They mopped afterward, but our belongings, including an electrical cable, were already wet and damaged. Mistakes happen, but the staff wouldn’t accept responsibility. We also asked for laundry service and requested the price beforehand. Despite asking several times, we weren’t told the cost. They went ahead with full dry cleaning and ironing, which we hadn’t asked for, then tried to charge more than we would have agreed to pay if we’d known the price. Staff blamed the dry-cleaning people, but it was the hotel’s responsibility to get us a price first and order only what we requested.

The service was good and friendly, and it’s good value for money. I stayed for one night and two days. The location is very convenient, though there’s no elevator and you have to walk up three floors. I’d recommend it for someone staying alone.

The staff were very attentive, and the property works well for a one-day stay. It’s on the building’s third floor with no lift, so the stairs can get tiring.

The idea is good, but the stay was very bad. The toilets weren’t clean, and the washbasin pipe leaked, so water ran onto your feet when you used it. Ashok was very rude and refused cloak service even though it was listed among the amenities. I was treated as if the bed had been given to me for free.

The receptionist was responsive and nice, but I wouldn’t recommend this for a woman traveling alone. The room was adequate, though it opened onto the roof. The bathroom was much too small, and it didn’t have basic things like toilet paper. The building’s location felt shady, squeezed between shops.
