Hotel Sai Palace, Mangalore

Udipi Café turned out to be a great choice for lunch near Mangalore Railway Station. I was in the prepaid auto queue looking for a family restaurant, and two girls behind me suggested it. The place felt calm and welcoming for families, and it was clean. Our food was tasty and freshly made, with very reasonable prices for the quality. A few dishes caught my eye, and the waiter explained them kindly and with a smile. The food, service and atmosphere made for a satisfying, affordable lunch. I'd recommend it to anyone nearby.

We stayed at Sai Palace from 1st February 2026 upto 5th February, five days, and everything was superb. The food was the tastiest, and the ambience was lovely. The whole team, from waiters, helpers and cleaning staff to the front desk, were very good. SAVIN, PRAMIT, ABHIJIT, SWASTIK, CHARAN AND ROYAL gave us the BEST hospitality. I can't think of any minus points. A big thank you to all the staff and the owner too. I'd highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

The way we were treated left us uncomfortable and disappointed. We were wearing uniforms, and I don't know if that affected the staff's attitude. My friend had visited twice before in the non-veg section, but this was my first time at Sai Palace. I was observing Lent, so we chose the veg section and ordered two mini thalis from the person in a coat, who clearly heard us. He sent someone else to serve the food. When we asked for the bill, it came to ₹294 for two thalis, and we realized we'd been served special thalis instead. We didn't know the difference, and staff insisted we'd ordered the special. The person in the coat rudely said, “You ordered this, I heard it,” with a bad attitude. We paid, but left feeling bad. I thought Sai Palace was an authentic restaurant with good customer service, but this visit wasn't good. I hope management looks into it and improves how staff treat customers.

The rooms were neat and quiet, the restaurant food was good, and breakfast buffet had lots of options. Room service was nice too, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The location is convenient in Mangalore, opposite Central Mall and close to the bus stand and railway station. You can arrange an airport taxi through the hotel for a lower price if you book in advance.
