The Avatar Hotel

The Loft restaurant and bar offer good variety and quality, and breakfast usually gets praise for its buffet and cooked-to-order options. The attached convention centre and banquet spaces are useful if you're in town for an event or wedding. Be aware that late-night event noise has disturbed some guests, so light sleepers may want to check with the front desk. Traffic noise and occasional room maintenance issues are also worth keeping in mind. This boutique-style hotel is in a great central spot in Mangaluru, within walking distance of shopping, transport, and places to eat, making it handy for tourists and business travellers. It feels contemporary and thoughtfully designed, with inviting common areas like the lobby, lounge, and restaurants. Some of the larger suites, such as the Skylight Suites, stand out for their spacious layouts and character. Rooms are generally clean, spacious, and bright, especially the Sunrise or Gallery studios. Most have modern amenities, comfortable beds, bottled water, tea and coffee kits, and reliable AC. A few guests have mentioned that bathroom fixtures or electronics could be maintained better. The staff, from reception to housekeeping, are consistently friendly, helpful, and courteous, and some have gone out of their way to assist. It's a well-rounded option with good service and a central location, and for most visitors a strong value in Mangaluru. It isn't a cookie-cutter budget hotel.

The rooms were good, but the restaurant treatment was the worst I've experienced in a professional hotel. We were treated with suspicion and open hostility, and I can't recommend the hotel because of the insulting behavior from restaurant staff and management. On Day 1, two of us ordered a la carte while our colleagues had inclusive packages. We waited an hour without getting plates or food. At first we thought it was a mistake, but it turned out to be intentional, to stop "food sharing." When it happened again on Day 2, we asked the Manager to step in. He told us to change tables because "sharing is not allowed." We explained we had our own a la carte order, but he still said, "Don't mix the food, I am watching you people on CCTV." We raised it with his senior, who apologized for the manager's irrational behavior and waived the bill. Being threatened with CCTV cameras while trying to have a professional dinner was horrible. No guest should be made to feel like a thief. Stay Dates: Feb 17 - Feb 20

The location is excellent, and the rooms are clean, well kept, and decently spacious, with stylish furnishings. The Loft restaurant serves great food, and the breakfast buffet was great and worth adding to the room booking. The hotel is on the 2nd floor with ample parking. One thing to keep in mind: weekend parties can send loud noise and beats into your room.

The third-floor reception area was a real plus for our daughter’s wedding, with plenty of room for a large event. We also found the hotel handy for getting around: about half an hour from Mangalore Int’l airport, 10 minutes from the city center, and 30 minutes from the beach. Breakfast was magnificent, and there was a wide choice of food and drinks. Most of all, the hotel, restaurant, and bar staff were kind, attentive, and always ready to help. Special mention to Nidisha, Gitanjait, Arvind, Tajudin, and Pradip, and thanks as well to the housekeeping team. We had a very pleasant stay at Avatar hotel and wish them all the best. 😊
