Being so close to the temple was the one real advantage. The stay itself was a letdown for the price. We booked a suite and paid in full before arriving in the evening with my wife, children, and parents. After darshan and a long drive, we just wanted to sleep, but the bathroom was badly aged, with taps that looked ready to come loose, and mosquitoes filled the room. The AC kept cutting out whenever the power failed, then resetting to 22, so I had to get up repeatedly in the heat to turn it back on. Staff said there was a gas issue. They moved us after a lot of trouble, but the AC problem continued and the bathroom was still dirty and poorly maintained. The self-service food was expensive and very ordinary. It’s a shame there isn’t a decent hotel in Mantralaya despite the crowds that come each year.
