Hotel BTH Sarovaram

The grounds are lovely, with orange brick buildings set among plenty of greenery, and there’s lots of parking. Inside, the restaurant has a spacious dining area, a lively crowd, and quick service. We tried the veg meal, served the traditional Kerala way on a banana leaf with all the sides arranged around the rice and sambhaar. It was delicious.

We visited around 7 pm, when only a few families were there. It seems well suited to families and couples, and kids are welcome. The restaurant is well maintained, and the service was great. The vegetarian dishes were nicely presented and good value, with a pleasant ambience. Since the pandemic was ongoing, there was no AC dining, but they provided individual fans. One thing to check: the chutney with the ghee roast seemed to have been refrigerated. Still, my wife and I had a nice visit.

The washrooms used to be tidy and well looked after, but their cleanliness has deteriorated a lot recently, which is really disappointing after coming here for years. I hope they take care of it. The location is excellent, and the vegetarian food is good quality.

The hotel grounds are maintained so nicely that we kept stopping to take photos. The room was average in size and facilities, and the bathrooms were extremely small. Mosquitoes were the biggest problem: there were so many we couldn't sleep, even after using an AllOut. I didn't encounter mosquitoes elsewhere in Kochi, so I'm not sure where they came from. The food was good, though not amazing. It's a decent, above-average place and good value for money, with a few issues.
