Gujarat Bhavan Hotel

We've been coming to Gujarat Bhavan for 15 years, and the food has usually been delicious. This visit, though, we weren't happy with the food quality. Breakfast had very few choices, while dinner was nice. It's still been the best hotel in Matheran for us so far.

Breakfast used to be our favorite part, but this time the dosas came cold and with ten minutes between servings. Bread, butter and tea had run out after just an hour, and the food quality has really changed. The pool and slide need maintenance too, since the slide handrail was shaky. We came back after nearly eight years, having always thought of this as a family favorite, but it was a real letdown. The rooms don't feel worth what they charge. I'm not coming back, it was a waste of money.

The pool party was so much fun, and the rooms were nice and spacious. It seems a great spot for a family holiday or a friends' trip. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all part of our package. Definitely try the food!

The family who have owned and run this place for years really go out of their way to help. It's about a five-minute walk to the market and ten minutes from the station, and for me it's the best place in Matheran. Meals are included, from breakfast and lunch to hi tea and dinner. The food is amazing, and the chef even asks what you'd like. Great hospitality.
