Hotel Shivaay Blue

The rooms were decent and comfortable, but don't expect much in the way of service. Breakfast servers lacked basic etiquette and didn't know how to interact with guests or serve properly. The receptionist also seemed disengaged and short on basic hospitality skills. In a regular room, you get two separate single beds, even when staying alone, not a queen or king-size bed. You have to book a super deluxe room for that. With better staff training, this place could be much better.

Breakfast was ridiculously overpriced for what was offered: just puri sabji, idli, a poor excuse for a sandwich, and boiled eggs, all in meager, low-quality portions. There wasn't anyone around to help during breakfast hours. Calling reception was a nightmare too. I called nearly 50 times in the morning and nobody answered. Staff were unprofessional and arrogant, especially the receptionist, who was rude and dismissive. When I asked his name, he flatly refused and said he was “not liable.” None of the staff wore name plates, which says a lot about the lack of accountability. I don't usually write reviews, but this stay was so disappointing that I feel I should warn people. There are plenty of better hotels in Daltonganj. I strongly advise against staying here and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

There's a big lawn that can fit a large gathering, plenty of A/C rooms with all facilities, and the room interiors are superb. The hotel also has a wide variety of food and is lovely for functions. In my opinion, it's a perfect place for birthdays, marriage functions, kitty parties, or office parties. I'd give it five stars and think everyone should book this hotel for any kind of occasion.

I usually stay at Shivay Hotel every month, but this visit to the Blue Room left me very dissatisfied. The food was satisfactory, yet staff took significant time to respond to requests. There was also no water to the toilet or shower, and despite my calls to reception, nobody came to fix it. That made for a very unpleasant stay. I hope the hotel takes this seriously and makes improvements for future guests.
