Amara Gateway Hotel

Breakfast was enjoyable, and most of the waitresses were really nice. The room setup was poor, though: no bath mat, just one towel for two people, no fridge, and not a single hanger in the cupboard. The Wi-Fi was awful or simply unavailable in the rooms. At checkout, they didn’t honor the price we had mutually agreed on verbally at check-in. It felt like a rip-off for non-Indian guests.

I was here for a tennis tournament. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and reasonably clean at first glance, but looking under the bed or on top of the mirror tells a different story. There are no hangers, and although they brought an extra towel when we asked, it had disappeared by the next day, leaving one towel for two people again. The in-room Wi-Fi was unusable. They also wouldn’t stick to the agreed price at reception, so I’d only book online. You can stay here if you have to, but life’s short.

I asked for complimentary Bisleri water bottles, but found tap water in used Bisleri bottles with broken or open seals. There’s no way to know if that water is safe or hygienic, and it could make guests sick. Reusing branded bottles this way felt deceptive and unethical. Staying at Amara Gateway Hotel was a mistake I won’t repeat.

Getting here is easy, since the hotel sits on the main road and is accessible from both the bus stop and railway station. The rooms are spacious, clean, and attractive, with large, nice washrooms. The hotel is beautiful and luxurious, and the food is tasty, with a healthy breakfast and plenty of variety from the restaurant and kitchen on the first floor. Prices are a bit high, but the food is good. The hotel is clean throughout, and there’s a resto-bar on the roof where some weekends feature live performances. A nice place to spend time.
