Hotel Summer Hill by OYO Rooms

The rooms were dirty, and the staff were rude. The so-called complimentary breakfast was just a tiny snack portion, barely enough for a ten-year-old. Staff seemed adept at cheating customers. If the hotel can’t provide breakfast, it shouldn’t offer it.

There’s no parking, so we had to leave the vehicle outside, and the hotel is tucked away with no transport readily available to get there. Hot water depends on sunlight, which is a real need at a hill station, and I expected better from an Oyo flagship hotel. I asked several times for body wash, but it never came during our three days.

They gave no indication online that foreign nationals weren’t allowed, and none when they took our money after copying the American guest’s passport. Three Indian citizens and one American arrived, and we ended up in an Airbnb with this hotel earning a one-star review. So much for Atithi Devo Bhava. I still haven’t received my refund. Taking the card took 0.7 seconds, but the refund takes seven days. Just get an Airbnb.

We only stayed because it was a rainy, late night and our group of 16 was looking for somewhere to sleep. The rooms were plain and unattractive, and hygiene was a concern. For room service, you have to go downstairs to reception, which is ridiculous. At an affordable price, it felt more like a lodge than a hotel, and it wasn’t comfortable.
