Backwater Heritage Homestay

Getting into town by public transport can be a bit tricky, but it's easy to find a three-wheeler if you ask the host uncle. I had a small dinner party here with local friends, and he was kind enough to let us use the place. The welcome was lovely too, with chilled guava juice one afternoon and warm fried banana with tea or coffee. This memorable, good-value homestay is a must if you're visiting India, especially the south. I don't know if there's a better backwater homestay anywhere in Kerala.

The hosts are kind people, and we really enjoyed our four nights here. It's a relaxing place close to nature, with great service and delicious food. We took a boat trip, and you can also explore by bicycle.

We spent three nights here and had a great time. The gardens are lovely for relaxing during the day, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's a peaceful part of the Kerala backwaters where we saw local life as we cycled and kayaked around. The food was brilliant too, with delicious, authentic Keralan dishes available three times a day if you want them.

We enjoyed our first visit so much that we came back again yesterday after staying here a few days ago. Aunty and uncle took such good care of us and made the place feel like home. The clean, comfortable rooms look out over a lovely garden and the waterfront, and the atmosphere is peaceful and homely. We never felt far from our own home. Highly recommend it for a warm, genuine stay.
