Bed and Breakfast at Colaba

The location was hard to find on Google Maps, and access is only by elevator. Inside, the room was dusty and dirty, with broken ceilings and mirrors, plus mosquitoes. There was no hot water, and I didn't get the full amount refunded. Breakfast was only bread and tea, and the staff shortage was obvious. The place felt shady, the photos are deceptive, and it was overpriced. Easily the worst hotel I've stayed in.

For a budget stay, it was alright. The place was clean, though it could use renovation, and the management were reliable when they offered to store our luggage. The staff were helpful, too. Breakfast came to the room, which wasn't comfortable and didn't work very well for us.

Taj Palace and Gateway are about a five-minute walk away, and the locality is good. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, but small, so anyone wanting more space may be disappointed. Basic amenities were there, the AC worked very well, and the bathroom was fine. Breakfast was tasty. One odd thing: if you want the room cleaned while you're out, you have to leave the key, since they don't have a master key. Water bottles cost extra.

You can walk to the Gateway of India in two minutes and get a fantastic ocean view. The front desk managers on both the day and night shifts were friendly and great. But the next-room guests were shouting and swearing at night, so I wouldn't recommend this for families. The rooms themselves are good, though they stink. Booking photos showed a proper breakfast, but we got dry bread without butter. After we asked three times and complained at reception, they brought some. They then arranged cholle when we pointed out the full breakfast we'd been shown, but served kidney beans and called it cholle.
