Hotel Kalpana Palace

By morning I was given ₹1,000 back from the ₹4,000 I initially paid, after arguing that the AC room I'd been charged for had stayed hot all night. I'd booked one night, 11-12 Dec last month. Before booking, a staff member showed me the room, turned on the AC, and said I could ring whenever I needed anything. Two hours later it still hadn't cooled, and my text to reception got no reply. I didn't ring at midnight because I didn't want to disturb my sleep. I somehow got through the night without AC. I had an early train, so at about 04:30 AM I rang the bell 8-9 times to report that the room still hadn't cooled, but nobody answered. Outside was cooler than inside in the early morning air, which confirmed the AC wasn't working. I told reception I'd paid for an AC room but received service like a non-AC one, and asked for a refund. He asked why I hadn't told him at night; I explained I'd messaged but hadn't called because it was midnight, and pointed out how much cooler it was outside. He said he'd refund the full amount if he found the issue genuine. I also mentioned the unanswered bell. At first he wouldn't accept the AC was faulty. He sent a staff member to check and spoke to him by phone, but still didn't fully acknowledge the problem.
