Taj The Trees, Mumbai

The mangroves gave my room a pleasant view, and the hotel itself is in a peaceful spot beside forest in the eastern part of the city. The rooms and lobby were well maintained, the third-floor restaurant was spacious, and the staff were courteous and cooperative. I stayed for two days in February. The entrance hall felt ordinary, without the grand look of other Taj hotels, and the Indian food was very bland. The stay was comfortable, but I don’t plan to return to this Taj hotel.

The main buffet restaurant, Shamiana, seemed short-staffed and service was quite haphazard. I had dining-service lapses on both stays, though the team seemed earnest about fixing them. Apart from that, I had a nice time here. The rooms were fresh, spacious, and comfortable, with views of the mangroves or Atal Setu bridge. Staff were polite, warm, and welcoming. I hope to come back.

Omkar led a gin tasting at the bar that really stood out. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and stories made it engaging and fun. The meals were another highlight, with carefully chosen ingredients, lovely presentation, and dishes full of flavor. You could sense the care and skill behind them. A great mix of thoughtful hospitality and luxury. I’d gladly return.

The Mangrove-side rooms have an excellent view, and the property is clean and very well maintained. Staff were polite and helpful, and the service generally made up for food that could be better. Most of the food was great. There were two problems, but staff handled both quickly and carefully. We ordered a burger for my kid with fries, but the fries smelled foul. They replaced them promptly, though the second serving smelled too, so we asked them to remove the fries. The chef, whose name I can’t remember, came to our room and offered to prepare another snack. In the lounge access area, one seat had a lot of hair from a previous occupant. We asked staff to remove it completely, and the person at the main counter was especially polite and helpful. They should make sure lounge seats are cleaned and disinfected after each use. We had a very good stay overall and plan another staycation soon.
