The Ambassador

The dining staff were inattentive at both dinner and breakfast, and their care and professionalism fell short of the rest of the hotel. I think they could benefit from more training in professional conduct and customer service. Otherwise, Ambassador Hotel met our expectations. The property and all its areas were clean and well maintained. Reception and concierge were consistently courteous and professional, and housekeeping also gave us great service. Thanks for all their hard work.

The building and rooms have a lovely old-fashioned, almost heritage feel, and the food was tasty, even if it wasn't anything special. The big draw is the location: right on Marine Drive, close to Fort, Colaba, and the Gateway of India. I'd recommend it for a stay in South Mumbai.

We got no sleep because of nonstop construction next door, with power tools, hammering, and shouting going on morning, afternoon, and evening. That was especially awful after a 12-hour jet lag. The hotel put us in that room despite the work, and the walls are so thin you can hear someone in the next room gently coughing or sneezing. The rooms and hotel were spacious and comfortable, with comfortable beds and large breakfasts, but they feel outdated. For an expensive hotel with a good reputation, that noise situation wasn't acceptable.

The staff were polite, attentive, and ready to help, and breakfast at the in-house restaurant was especially impressive. The restaurant also serves tasty Indian and continental food. Our room was clean, spacious, and well maintained, with vintage décor that suits Mumbai's timeless character. The Ambassador Hotel is in the heart of Churchgate, overlooking the Arabian Sea and a short walk from Marine Drive. It offers a peaceful retreat from the city's bustle, with a convenient central location and classic old-world charm. A true Mumbai classic for either business or leisure.
