Gokulam Park Munnar

I booked Gokulam Park because I trusted the Gokulam Gopalan name and expected good hospitality, but that wasn't what we got. I was returning home from a road trip from Thekkady to Kodaikanal via Marayoor, stopping in Munnar on the way. Since I planned to stay only one night, I chose this place expecting a comfortable visit. When I checked into Room 608 at 6 PM, it stank. There were cockroaches in the washroom, and the AC remote didn't work. I paid ₹4,300 for just 15 hours, which was nowhere near worth it. The buffet breakfast did have many choices, but that alone couldn't make up for the stay. Over the last five days of my trip, I stayed in three hotels priced from ₹3,500 to ₹5,500 a night, and this was by far the worst. I politely reported the issues to the FOA, and they acknowledged them. The manager tried to describe them as “general.” If that's considered general, how can ₹4,300 be justified? I haven't uploaded the videos of the cockroaches or the AC remote problem, even though they happened in my room. If your budget is ₹4.5K or above, I'd strongly suggest looking at other options.

There are lots of amenities here, including a restaurant, kids’ zone, pool, cafeteria, spa, room service, travel desk, and curio shop. The hotel is very well maintained, with spacious, spotless rooms, ample parking, and balconies looking out to the sunrise, valley, and mountains. The staff were courteous, professional, and attentive. It seems like a great place for a luxurious, relaxing family stay. The restaurant could improve its service speed and have tables ready before guests arrive. Cutlery and glasses should be set out without guests needing to ask.

My 5-year-old had a great time in the little indoor games area, and we also enjoyed the spa, Sparsha. The one letdown for the kids was the pool: it was 4.5 feet deep and had no shallower section. We stayed in an executive room at GPM with a balcony. It was roomy and tidy, with a lovely view of the hills. The food and service were excellent, and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Gokulam Park, Munnar.

The comfortable beds, clean rooms, nice staff, ample parking, and wide access road were good. The view from the room was pleasant, though you can't see a tea estate from there. The hotel is near one, so you can see the view on a walk. Wi-Fi was okay. Still, breakfast service was very slow every day, and the hotel seemed understaffed. There was no hot water in the shower, which feels like a strange cost-saving choice for a premium hotel in a hill station, and water leaked from the flush. They seem to focus on things that draw a crowd while overlooking basic comfort. Budget hotels do better on many of these points.
