The vegetarian restaurant downstairs was the real highlight for us. Food came fresh, hot, tasty, and promptly, and there was often a queue. Other tourists had to wait, while we could get in easily as hotel guests. Being able to eat pure vegetarian food right in the building made everything convenient. Nearby, within a 10-meter range, there are also places such as Saravana Bhavan. I was unsure at first whether Hotel Hillfort was the right choice, but it turned out much better than I expected. We were traveling from Ernakulam, and its spot right on the way to Munnar worked perfectly. Our rooms were spacious and well maintained, with marble floors. The washroom was huge, almost a quarter of the room size, and very clean. Hot water was always available, and the basic toiletries were supplied, including soap, shampoo, toothpaste, clean towels, and a large full-length mirror. The staff and runner boys were consistently attentive. They cleaned regularly, refilled water bottles, and politely checked whether we needed anything. They were smiling, helpful, and courteous, and their hospitality was so good it made me want to tip without being asked. We stayed during peak season between 26th and 28th December, covering Christmas and New Year. They still arranged early check-in and helped with our luggage to and from the cab. There was huge parking space behind the building, with easy access to the rooms, which was convenient with family. A security guard was always at the entrance to guide and assist guests. I was there with my wife, parents, and child. I had been in two minds about booking, but it ended up being a perfect stay for my family. Hotel Hillfort exceeded what I expected, with reasonable pricing, great food and service, and a prime location. I'd choose it again and recommend it to anyone traveling to Munnar, especially families and friends.
