Munroe Coconut Homestay

We took both canoe trips with Uni, and each was so peaceful. The sunrise trip started at 5:30am and was spectacular, going to the lake and returning through backwaters other tour operators don't use. Later, Uni’s papa took us out at sunset to a lovely spot, again along empty waterways. We passed close to people's island lives. I'd thoroughly recommend doing both. This homestay is on a no-through road, so there was no traffic noise, just all the wonderful birds of Munroe Island. We ate every meal with the family, and Uni’s mother worked magic in the kitchen. The food was among the best we've had in three months in India. Our upstairs room was big enough for both of us to lay out yoga mats and practise each day. Uni and his family are a wonderful team who made our stay feel perfect. Our three nights here far exceeded expectations. Six stars out of five, and a huge thank you to Uni and his beautiful family.

I highly recommend the canoe outings at sunrise and sunset. Drifting through the canals in a small canoe felt peaceful and magical, almost like stepping out of time, and Uni arranged everything so well. I spent three nights here and felt genuinely welcomed by Uni and his family. The rooms were spacious, spotless and comfortable. We ate all our meals there, and Uni’s mother made delicious home cooking, a lovely way to try Kerala specialties. Breakfast was different every day. I'd be delighted to return!

Rahul and his family make you feel welcome in their warm homestay. The food is divine, fresh, light and full of flavor, and I had some really interesting conversations with Rahul. My room was spotless and super comfortable, with a balcony where I could daydream to the sound of rain falling on the coconut tree canopy. The scenery is stunning, and the quiet makes it easy to slow down and reconnect with yourself. Bike rides, sunrise canoe trips, chai by the water, local manufactures and hidden gems made exploring the area such a pleasure. The best place to enjoy the Backwaters, 10/10. I can't wait to come back!
