Mount Spring Valley Homestay

It’s so quiet here, with nothing around but nature. The house sits in a garden, though it felt like a forest to me, and the people were polite and helpful. We went with the kids, and everyone really enjoyed it. A lovely place close to nature.

I booked a room through Booking.com, but couldn’t pay because her phone number wasn’t working on Google Pay. I tried reaching her through Booking and both phone numbers listed there, but she never answered. Then, just the day before my stay, she cancelled my reservation and gave the room to someone else who had paid in advance. Very bad behaviour.

I stayed with my family for two nights, and it was a breathtaking experience. It may be a homestay, but the caretakers are so humble and treat you like family. We were delighted to try the home-grown Jackfruit. A must-stay for travellers.

The view is breathtaking, perched on a small mountain in the middle of lush jungle. For 2500 per room-night in December end 2023, you get what you pay for. It’s basically an AirBnB-like setup: the owner gives you the keys and you’re on your own. The rooms are a decent size, with a large double bed, two chairs, a table, two pillows, two blankets, two towels, and bath soap. There are a few plates, glasses, and spoons in the common area, plus an electric kettle. Drinking water isn’t provided. The owner lady can make tea and snacks for no or nominal charges. The last half kilometre to the property runs along the valley edge and needs a small car and a skilled driver. Our Innova wouldn’t make it, so we had to call an auto rickshaw. I’d recommend it if you just need a cheap place to sleep, but there isn’t much else: no room service or cleaning, limited hot water, and dusty cupboards and extra linens.
