Emerald Urban Comforts

There was a good breakfast selection, and you could ask for extra items such as dosa. We ate at the restaurant every night because there was nothing else around, and the food was very good. It’s a pure veg rooftop restaurant, and all the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The hotel is definitely worth considering for a visit to Mysore. Our room was clean and a good size, and the bed was comfortable. But the booking listed a safety deposit box, hairdryer, robes and slippers, and none were in the room. They did provide a safety deposit box after I asked, but advertised items should be there.

The manager apologized and offered another dish, which I appreciated, but the serving staff’s attitude still left me with a bad impression. The response to our concern felt dismissive. We were told coriander is part of the dish instead of being shown basic courtesy or offered an alternative. Good hospitality means listening to guests, especially when dining with family, not just defending a recipe. We visited Satvik Rooftop Café above Emerald Urban Comforts with our family, including a child, expecting a good meal because of the hotel’s reputation. The spring rolls were far too oily, though we didn’t complain at the time. Later, the Kadai Paneer had so much coriander (dhania) that we could feel and chew it in every bite. It was badly balanced and unpleasant. The restaurant needs better quality control and service training to meet the expectations set by the hotel. If you’re staying at Emerald Urban Comforts, I’d look at other nearby dining options.

The room was decent and the property was well placed for getting to nearby sites, but our comfort didn’t match what we paid. There was an annoying generator-like noise above us throughout the stay, and the toilet smelled foul all the time, even after we poured water into it. Room service was very poor, except for the room boys who promptly helped with our luggage. They were quick to call us around 12pm to vacate, but didn’t show that speed with other service. They were stingy with basic supplies: body wash and soap, only one of each for one person, no shampoo, comb or toothpaste, and just one towel. We also got one tea bag and milk powder per person. I asked repeatedly, but they still gave only one packet for each person. Breakfast was decent.

The rooftop restaurant was a highlight, with an amazing view and food, and it’s Pure Veg. Staff were friendly and always ready to help, and service was top-notch throughout my stay. My room was neat and clean, with 24-hour hot water and a mini fridge. There was plenty of parking too. I only missed a dental kit, and they provided just one towel and one soap. Still, it was comfortable, clean and worth the price. Highly recommended.
