Hotel Siddharta

We spent two nights here. The room was a good size for the price, and the location worked well. Om Santhi restaurant is downstairs, with very good vegetarian food. Service felt more like a government guest house, though, and the fans and AC seemed a little old.

We stopped in for lunch after a late breakfast, so we skipped the meals and ordered Tomato Soup, Veg Fried Rice, Gobi Manchurian, and Curd Rice instead. The portions were generous and everything tasted satisfying. It’s a pure vegetarian hotel with good parking, right in the city center and just a short walk from the Wadiyar Statue. It’s also an old, well-known place with rooms and a restaurant.

We were hungry and forgot to take food photos, though I did get one of where I parked my bike. The road is one-way, so watch for that, and there’s plenty of parking. We’d come to Mysore during the Dasara festival without knowing this hotel, and while wandering around I asked locals where to get good vegetarian food. Four out of five people pointed us here, even with a food fest going on. We wanted traditional Mysore food, and it was really good. We ordered one North Indian meal and one South Indian meal, both top notch. The way they treated us was lovely, too. Thanks to the Mysore people who sent us there for lunch. I’d definitely suggest this place and want to try more of the menu next time. If you’re visiting Mysore, check it out.

The food is quite good, and the location is handy for the palace, zoo, and other major attractions. The rooms were the problem. They’re poorly lit and not very clean, and the washrooms were filthy and smelly, with no maintenance. Basic things were missing: there’s no first aid kit, and even executive rooms have no kettle, tea, or coffee. If all you need is a very basic room with AC and a fan, you could choose it. Otherwise, skip this hotel.
