The location is awesome, but the rude behaviour, overpriced stay, poor room service, and refusal to meet basic needs are a big blunder for a rest house like this.

Mr Madan, the caretaker, prepared the meals and was courteous, taking good care of the guests. There are four different rooms in total, including two independent cottages. From Chawani, follow the road past Dal lake, take the left road going down, and continue 3 kms to reach the forest rest house. Great stay.

A week off or a vacation here sounds just right, with reasonable rates and home-made food. The view of the snow-clad mountains and dense forest is fantabulous.

There's no food here, not even tea or coffee, and the caretaker acts like he's the boss. If you go with your family, you'll definitely suffer.

I stayed in an independent cottage from 20 to 22 October 2022, and it was a lovely place. The meals were prepared by the caretaker. After crossing the Dal lake, take the left road going down and continue 3 kms to reach Forest Rest House, Satovari, Tota Rani, Himachal Pradesh. My lovely brother and friend, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Rahi from Chamba, Himachal pradesh, organised the stay. It was a great stay for me.
