Corbett Machaan Resort

The resort itself is clean, spacious, and nice for kids, so I had no real complaint about the property. The food, though, was a big letdown, especially for what they charge. At lunch on Saturday we had Dry Manchurian, White Sauce Pasta, Kadhai Paneer, and Meethi Bread. Dinner seemed to reuse those dishes: the Dry Manchurian came back with gravy, the Kadhai Paneer became plain paneer gravy, and the Meethi Bread was renamed “Malpua.” It felt like leftovers from lunch instead of freshly made dinner. Even curd wasn't available, and the food was cold. The staff didn't seem concerned. High tea wasn't any better. The pakodas were very oily and tasted strange. If good food matters to you, this place will disappoint.

Our safari gypsy picked us up right at the resort, so the distance from the safari gates didn't cause us much trouble, though the resort is quite far away. There were two weddings happening during our stay. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the staff were excellent, and the food was very good, with plenty of dinner choices. They even let us check out an hour late after we got back late from the morning safari.

The reception was the only part that was good. We were 15 people spread across five rooms, and the rooms and washrooms were awful. The window ACs didn't work, and staying in the huts was a bad idea. In-room dining was the one thing that wasn't a complete failure, but it cost extra. I wouldn't give this place even one star. Avoid it.

The food was fantastic, even though the resort had run short of gas cylinders and had to cook on a traditional chulha. That made the meals feel memorable and authentic. The staff were warm and worked hard to make us comfortable throughout, even with that challenge. We had a wonderful, peaceful stay at Corbett Machaan Resort and would recommend it for the hospitality.
