Hotel City Palace Nainital by Goroomgo

We arrived late for the room I'd booked for my family, but nobody had told me they were giving it to someone else. They put us in a room that was dirty and smelly. The staff were clueless about how to speak to guests, the washroom was awful, and there were big mice in the hotel. All night a whole team of them seemed to be trying to chew through our door. The owner, Jasper, wouldn't accept fault and said they'd informed me about the room's status. You have to walk up to reach the hotel, and it's so high up that going with family is hard. The listing said parking was provided, but they don't have it. You'll have to park your car in the parking area. The rooms and washroom were awful, and the water didn't come properly. They didn't provide toiletries either. I asked for a towel and got a hand towel instead. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here. I visited on 16 sep 2024.

The owner was humble and polite, and the staff were cooperative. Our room was cosy and in good shape, with working Wi-Fi and good room service. Rates seemed reasonable compared with nearby hotels. It's near High Court, and paid parking is 50 meters away. Mall Road and the lake are walkable from there. I found the owner's number in a visiting card photo on the Google Page and booked directly. I'd recommend this place for families and couples.

We really enjoyed the food at Hotel City Palace. Breakfast had a great selection of Indian and Western dishes, and everything tasted excellent. Our room was clean and comfortable, with the essentials including a cosy bed, flat-screen TV and private bathroom. The location was a highlight, with lovely views of the nearby lake and mountains. Staff were friendly and helpful, answering questions and suggesting local sights and restaurants. I highly recommend Hotel City Palace for a visit to Nainital and look forward to coming back.

I reserved a room at City Palace for one day through goroomgo agoda.com and got a booking confirmation from goroomgo, which I forwarded to City Palace hotel. The hotel still refused to give me a room. Don't book through these unauthorised sites.
