For ₹14,500, the room standards were shockingly low. It looked nothing like the pictures, lacked hygiene and proper maintenance, and didn’t have the facilities advertised. There was no hot water after 8pm, which hadn’t been disclosed beforehand. I contacted both the hotel and MakeMyTrip, but only ₹5,000 was refunded. That feels unfair given how misleading the booking was. When I raised my concerns, the staff were unresponsive and disinterested. I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Himalaya unless major improvements are made. Tourists deserve honesty and a basic level of service, and I didn’t get either.

The rooms were clean and tidy, but the photos are fake. There’s no swimming pool like the pictures show, and no open area either. It’s a home-like building with rooms. The main problem we had was no power backup. When the local electricity went out, the AC and charging points stopped working. They only have an inverter for the lights and fans.

We used the place just for a day stop, to leave our bags and freshen up before going to Jim Corbett safari. After that we ate outside and left in the evening for our train journey. It was okay for that limited use, but I wouldn’t really recommend it for a proper stay. There’s no lift, so you have to carry your bags up 2 floors.

The staff were friendly and really helpful, and the bathrooms were clean with everything working. It’s fine for a quick stop, but the room itself is small and there’s no WiFi. There also isn’t much to see around, so I wouldn’t stay here for long.
