Neemrana Fort-Palace

Be ready for plenty of stairs and walking between levels, which is part of the experience in this old fort. Neemrana Fort-Palace is a remarkable place to stay, set inside a restored 15th-century hillside fort. Its terraces, stairways, and courtyards make it feel as though you’ve stepped back in time, and the rooms are built into the original structure. The architecture and views are spectacular, with surrounding landscapes visible from many terraces. It’s rare to stay in a hotel that’s also a real 15th-century castle. There are a few similar heritage properties in Europe, but they tend to be extremely expensive. Neemrana Fort-Palace is surprisingly affordable by comparison and offers an experience that’s hard to match. The dinner buffet is about $25 per person and has an impressive range, including regional food, meat, chicken, fish, salads, and traditional Indian dishes. It’s a good chance to sample many local flavors in one place. For anyone who appreciates history, architecture, and an authentic cultural atmosphere, this is a unique place and well worth visiting.

The fort is large, with lots to explore, and it looks lovely lit up at night. We also enjoyed the sunset from Shatranj Terrace. There are hot and cold swimming pools, although the cold one was closed for maintenance during our visit. There are a lot of staircases, so it may be difficult for elderly guests. We stayed in one of the oldest original fort rooms, which was decent and well maintained. The staff were polite and helpful, and the food was very good. The evening heritage walk was guided, and the high tea, Rajasthani cultural program, and yoga were well organised and kept us busy. Breakfast and dinner buffets had a good variety and tasted nice. We got a welcome drink, and the team arranged a cake cutting for our celebration, which was a nice touch. Parking and valet service are available. A memorable heritage stay.

The property is well looked after, and the staff were polite and helpful. But after hearing its reputation as a heritage property, the experience felt more like hype than an authentic heritage stay. The food was average in both quality and variety for the price. We also tried the couple spa, but it didn’t meet expectations or feel worth what we paid. It was a pleasant stay, though the value and heritage charm didn’t match what I’d expect at this price.

The heated and regular pools are both options, and swimming in the middle of the fort was the most amazing thing I’ve experienced. There’s also a palace tour starting at 4:30, an evening cultural event, and high tea with a sunset view. My husband and I came to Neemrana for a mini honeymoon, and received a complimentary cake for our wedding celebration. If you live near Delhi or Jaipur and want a short getaway for a birthday, anniversary, or other small occasion, this feels like a perfect spot. It mixes tradition with modernity and makes you feel like royalty. Highly recommended for a short staycation.
