Dirty rooms, and there was a lizard in mine. When I told the hotel manager, he said, “BECAUSE ITS A CHEAP HOTEL THIS THE SERVICE”. The hygiene here is absolutely the poorest. There are lots of staff, but they seem interested only in picking up fallen mangoes from the trees. They offer breakfast, but there’s no real selection: an omelette with two slices of bread, precooked aloo paratha bought from a shop, and a sandwich with sliced cucumber and grated carrots. That’s all. In my opinion, they should NOT offer breakfast to travellers. Be very careful before choosing this hotel. I have the contact for their head Gavin and will write to him too. A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE, WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.

The location in the heart of Old Goa is the one positive. For the price, which isn’t cheap, this was bad value. The room had such a strong smell of some kind of detergent that it was unpleasant to sit in. There were no blankets, as if they expected us to bring them from home, and there’s no WiFi in the rooms.

The outside area was unkept, with garbage around. Inside, the floors and furniture were dirty, the rooms unclean, and there were cobwebs. The linen had been washed but was horribly stained, and there weren’t even basic utilities like cloth hangers. They charge 3000 for a Non-AC room, which is absolutely the worst value for money. It’s not worth even 1500.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was tasty without being expensive. Our room was neat and well cared for, too. Old Goa Residency is especially handy for visiting Bom Jesus Basilica, just a short walk away. I had a really pleasant stay.

The location is the one good thing. The rooms felt old and dirty, and breakfast seemed to be served just for the sake of it. The amenities listed weren't available, either. You'd be better off at a lodge or motel.
