Embassy Suites

The cold was the biggest drawback for me. There was a heater in the room, but it didn't help much, so bring warm clothes, socks, and cotton for your ears if you plan to sleep there. Otherwise, I found the room clean enough for one night, with a good bed, wardrobe, bathroom, hot water, and Wi-Fi. The place is about 1 km from the US Embassy, which makes it handy for visa applicants. Chottu was polite and helped with my concerns. I also got my shirt and pants ironed in the building within minutes, and he arranged a reasonably priced cab through his contacts: 100 rupees each for the interview pickup and drop-off, then the same driver took me to the airport. I could order meals on Swiggy and things like Vaseline and deodorant on Zepto.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and I booked mainly because the place is close to the embassy. But the rooms weren't hygienic. We found a rat under the bed and asked to move; there was a rat in the replacement room too.

I paid for the booking, but after seeing the place I walked out and found somewhere else. There was no name board, the outside looked badly kept, and the reception was a shanty where I had to wait for someone to attend to me. The two rooms I was shown both felt creepy, and the hallway smelled strongly of smoke. Even before going in, my gut was telling me to leave. Everyone should stay away, especially women. It's not hard to imagine what the place would be like.

A good, simple place to stay, especially for a visa interview since it's very close to the USA embassy.
